An offline macOS music player

Petrichor is a native music player for macOS. It plays almost any format and keeps your library organized based on track metadata, integrates well with rest of macOS and offers a ton of features that are mostly found only in streaming music players.

View your library, organized

Point Petrichor at your music folders and it builds a library you can browse by Artists, Albums, Genres, and Years, with search that stays fast across thousands of tracks. It borrows the best parts of streaming apps too: from any track, use the go-to menu to jump to its artist, album, or year. And it never modifies your files on disk, so your collection stays exactly as you have it.

Supports over 20 formats

MP3, AAC, ALAC, FLAC, WAV, AIFF, Ogg Vorbis, Opus, DSD, APE, WavPack, and plenty more, all handled efficiently. Petrichor reads the finer details of every track too, so you can see what's lossless along with its bit depth, sample rate, and codec.

Multi-band equalizer and stereo widening

Dial in your sound with a multi-band equalizer, a handful of ready-made presets, stereo widening, and a preamp for fine-tuning levels. Playback stays gapless, with spatial audio on supported earphones. It's all powered by CrescendoKit, an in-house audio engine currently in beta, with much more on the way.

Immersive mode

A full-window now-playing view that puts the artwork front and center, with the play queue and lyrics right beside it.

Mini Player

A compact player that floats above your other windows, with the queue and lyrics tucked in, so the music keeps going while you work.

Smart playlists

Playlists that fill themselves from rules you set, like genre, year, rating, or how often you have played a track.

Private by design

Petrichor keeps to itself. Here is exactly what it does, and does not do, with your data.

Sandboxed and notarized

Petrichor runs in Apple's security sandbox and is notarized by Apple.

No analytics, ever

There is no tracking of how you use the app, and there never will be.

Your files stay untouched

It never changes your audio files or folders. Write access is only used when you export an M3U playlist.

Offline by default

Your library stays offline. Online extras like artist images, lyrics, Scrobbling, and etc. are opt-in and off by default.
